About Us
Providing supportive housing and mental health support since 1990.
Our Mission
L'Île des Amis is a non-profit organization that provides long-term supportive housing and community-based mental health support for adults living with mental health challenges. We foster independence, quality of life, empowerment, and a strong, compassionate community.

Our History
L'Île des Amis was founded in 1990 by Joan Farley and Mary-Clare Tanguay in response to the growing need for long-term housing for adults living with mental health challenges in the West Island, a need that remains just as essential today.
The first residence, Maison Farley, opened in 1992, followed by Maison Heron in 2005. Since its founding, the organization has remained committed to the vision of its founders by fostering a strong, compassionate, and supportive community.
IDA provides weekly support services to residents through a dedicated mental health team, including home visits, telephone support, follow-up on personalized wellness plans, accompaniment to appointments or community organizations, and coordination of activities with residents and local partners.
Thanks to the generosity of donors and community partners, IDA continues to offer high-quality care, develop new initiatives, and remain a vital resource for individuals in need of stable housing and ongoing support.
